So, lets see all those beautiful cards using Circles or Ovals or Unusual Shapes. Head on over to the blog and check out the fabulous ideas my team mates have come up with.

For my card I dug out my Spellbinders Grand Circles and the Decorative Circles. I love these large dies and I wish they had made a few more. However, I have used the largest of the Decorative Circles as my base and folded and creased well across the centre/ The stripes layer is another from this set and and the pale pink layer is the smallest die in the set. I have used a sheet from the Hunkydory's Little book of Cakes and Bakes as my centrepiece. Its perfect as Lily is three in a couple of weeks time. Her name was cut out using the Spellbinders Art Nouveau font set and threes of flowers, pearls and gems.

First of all, let me show the two cards made for the International Art and Soul blog.

The Challenge No 32 theme was for Interactive. Now this theme always baffles me as to what to make. I decided to make up a card from Hunkydory's Art Deco kit. I love this kit and reach for it when I just can't think of what to make. It's interactive because the lovely bookmark can be used after.

The current challenge at INTAAS is All About Boys and Men. After a smashing visit to Ally Pally last month I borrowed a lovely Sue Wilson Steampunk die from my sis-in-law. I was asked to make a card for a gentleman who was going to celebrate his 60th birthday. I made two cards to show.

Its a fun challenge with no prizes but we would love to see your creations, anything to do with Paper Piecing.
Check out those lovely little pieces of paper in your stash that you just couldn't bear to throw away and use them on a project.

I hope you can make out the lovely teapot from Kanban (I think) in the top left hand corner that I stamped and embossed with clear powder. The tea cups are a set of old dies from Spellbinders called Nested Tea Cups and I've used papers from Kaisercrafts High Tea paper pad. I was inspired by Deb Saaranen's blog post here in using the High Tea papers but I do love the teapot. Perhaps next time I'll emboss it in silver.

Please pop along to the blog as we'd love to see your creations, we are always ready to send some love your way.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-27782599151369905322018-03-23T11:19:00.000+00:002018-04-16T21:17:53.340+01:00Add Some HumourMany apologies for my late post again, struck down with the this dreaded virus thats doing the rounds, its the third time this winter but thankfully not as bad as before.

Add Some Humour is the challenge this fortnight at the International Art and Soul blog until 31st March. I was asked by my OH to create a card for a friend of his, Roy, who was celebrating his eightieth birthday.

I have seen these scrabble style cards on Pinterest and thought I'd have a go. I sent off for some proper scrabble letters but due to the snow they arrived far to late for me to work with them. I managed to find a scrabble style font to use and created the wording myself, lucky for me the lettering fell just right.

Some stars to finish off. I know he was pleased with it as I was.
We would love you to join in with us and create a project using embossing and die cutting.

I started by using a buttons embossing folder on half of the card that I picked up at Ally Pally a couple of years ago. I dusted over the base with an Encore Ultimate Metallic ink pad in pink. It came out a lot darker than I expected but as I had buttons that were of a similar shade I carried on.

The sentiment came from a card created by a good friend of mine, Tammy Davidson of Highland Made cards. I cut the sentiment out with the centre dies of a Spellbinders Intertwined Spirals. The purple lilac card was almost a match.

Please come and join us at International Art and Soul with your creations. Everyone can join in on this just for fun challenge and we would love to see our young crafters too.

Please let me know you've been, lots of you pass by but sadly I have no idea who you are, I'm always happy to come and visit.

I thought when I retired I would perhaps be bored but no way, Pedro! I've got a new little buddy to craft with called Ellie and she just loves doing stuff! Healthwise, we shall see.

Pop on over to see the fabulous creations of my teamies at International Art and Soul. Our challenge was to use 'Use Stuff You Already Owned'. I wanted to use a picture of my craft space in my bedroom but that was too easy. so, here's what followed.

It was my great niece's birthday a couple of weeks ago and I had been overhearing a conversation with her Dad as to how much she loved unicorns. I've had the CD, 'Flights of Fantasy' by the fabulous artist, Morgan Fitzsimons for some time and knew there was an image of a unicorn on the double CD.

This is the image on the card I sent.

I've used some background paper from the CD and just added some ribbon and a simple sentiment and used Stampin' Up punches to cut. Most little girls love glitter and theres lots on the card.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-68079501230439188752018-02-05T11:20:00.001+00:002018-02-05T11:22:31.620+00:00Some Texture! Our new challenge no26 at International Art and Soul (here) is for Texture on your creation. Our design team have created some amazing projects for you to see and enjoy.

I created this for my son's birthday in mind, he's a bit of a graphic artist himself so I'm hoping he likes it. I took a piece of corrugated cardboard and peeled it apart. Into the spray box and attacked it with all sorts of Mr Huey's paint mists and Tim Holts Distress Paints until I was happy with it, great fun! I've also edged some Treasured Gold wax on there too.

The bird is from a set of Spellbinders nested Birds that I've had for ages, gilding wax on it too. There's a small piece of hessian ribbon behind the bird, it's always shredding whenever you touch it and little tie of raffia on the edge to finish.

Please come and join us at International Art and Soul with your creations. It doesn't have to be a card for you to enter.

The challenge to Do Something Digital. The baking image I found on a website called Design Bundles here. I can recommend this site for its great freebies and free weekly font giveaways.
I love subway art and this image was perfect as I was able to link it with a Marianne Designs die that I've had for years. The little sentiments were just how I felt on the day I made it, could have done with a cupcake or two.

Please pop over to the International Art and Soul blog and check out what my very imaginative team mates have created.
I am back with cards and other stuff.

Today is the first of the new fortnightly challenges at International Art and Soul. Our challenge this fortnight is to create something WOW, aka white on white. Please hop over to our blog and enter your creations. Create something white, it doesn't always have to be a card and if its difficult to photo then add a smidgen of colour to highlight. Please check out my team mates for their fab creations too, gorgeous and yummy!

For my card this week I've used Tonic Studio's Victorian Frame die. This die make a whopper of a card and I'm hoping that it will fit into an 8" x 8" card box. It's going away under my bed for Christmas next year.

On the last layer I've popped a Sue Wilson Dove from a couple of years ago with the matching peace die that comes with it. I glued some crystals from my stash onto the body of the bird to give it some sparkle. At this time of the year the light levels are so low and so wet and cold outside that Ive had to photograph it on my windowsill.
Yup! Too much stash. I've got lots of birthdays during the months of July and August and I've put this mega kit to good use.

It's a new challenge at INTAAS this week and our challenge is Dies.

The centre image is from the Hunkydory but I've used the Spellbinders dies Astoria Labels and Decorative elements to make it stand out . the feathers came with the kit too.
Please join us at International Art and Soul with your beautiful die cut creations.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-3102729112902145492017-07-09T12:00:00.000+01:002017-07-27T10:34:49.044+01:00What a scorcher! What fantastic weather we are having, just a little cooler today, windows open wide and the breeze is blowing the cobwebs away. My dogs are loving the warmth unless it gets just too much for them but there are a few cool places for them to sleep. Miss Tuppence is a bit of a sun worshipper and we have to turn her over as she will just lays there cooking! Alfie being white is sensible and stays indoors.

NEW CHALEENGE

The challenge this week at International Art and Soul is is to create anything you like 'With Elements of Nature'. This can be just about anything thats living or breathing or at the close of day when autumn comes, deep winter etc. Loads to choose from!

I found this sentiment on Pinterest but could not find a source to acknowledge the creator, such beautiful words. The butterflies were from an old Kanban kit that I've had for ever and I thought I could use them on my card. The banner was created with Spellbinders Baby Bunting and the edge of the card was embossed with a Sue Wilson Noble Pierced Square. Very simple but I'll save for just that right time.

Please pop over and see the fabulous cards my teamies have made for the challenge here.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-26051817488681062722017-06-25T22:31:00.001+01:002017-06-25T22:31:18.885+01:00What beautiful weather!Hasn't the weather has been amazing! My garden is really going into blossom overdrive with everything showing off and the pots around the garden all trying to outshine one another.

This Sunday starts a new challenge at InternationalArt and Soul and the theme this week is Flowers. So, please show us your treasured flowers so that we all can enjoy your beautiful Creations. Please join us INTAAS.

I made this card or big tag for a friend for with her birthday in mind. I cut the shape with a Tattered Lace Tag Die and covered it with paper from the Kanban Apricot Dream pad. I cut and made the flowers with the Heartfelt Creations Arianna Bloom die. The rest of the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the wired large pearl strands are from Anna Marie Designs. The little birthday sentiment tag is by Sue Wilson and underneath all the flowers is the big Cheery Lynn swirl die in gold glitter paper and little leaves from Marianne Dies. I hope she likes it.

Sadly, a friend of my husbands passed away and I don't usually post sympathy cards to my blog but I'm sure the sentiment can easily be changed to something more appropriate. It's always difficult with what to say at times like these but Ive kept it light with using brown and ivory and a Memory Box poppy. I generated the sentiment myself and popped it on a Spellbinders label die.

Next week is happing up to nee the same with a visit to our local RHS garden with friends and lunch and then off to London to meet a lady over from Canada who I hope to meet again in two/three months time actually in Canada.

For the Men in our Lives is the theme for the challenge over on the International Art and Soul Challenge blog (intaas)

It was my grandsons birthday last week and he has celebrated being 19 years old. We are proud as such as he is studying Criminology in a uni in Canada. This was the card I made for him. The timing was perfect, the challenge and his birthday.

I've used three shades of brown card and cut them with Sue Wilson's Pierced Squares, A & B to give me narrow layers and I embossed the top one with a chevron embossing folder. The image was a freebie from the company called Design bundles, check them out weekly on the internet. The ribbon I bought from the Creative Expressions stand at the recent Ally Pally show, lots of different colours for 50p for a couple of metres, bargain! The dies I've used for the sailing ship I bought from a lady on Facebook, no idea where they came from originally.

If you drop in, please let me know and Ill return the favour, have a great week!

It seems to have just flown by and not stopped for me to enjoy it. My roses are out in full bloom and I've missed seeing them bud and blossom. The perfume from the pink one is amazing I'm told, (I don't have any sense of smell!). As it's on a north facing wall and in the cool of an evening, many people have passed by on their way to our local and commented.
It's time for a lovely new challenge at International Art And Soul (INTAAS) and the challenge for the next two weeks is Stitching. Please drop by the blog and show us your lovely cards.

For my card this week I chose to stitch with my little pink sewing machine, still can't stitch straight with it as you can see!! I can't believe this little machine can do so many stitches. I chose three pages from the First Edition Spring Feast paper pad and layered them up and distressed the edges . The little green die cut is part of a Marianne Dies set, I think its called Anja's Squares, feel free to correct me. The centre bird house image is by Hunkydory from my stash as is the birthday sentiment. The little pink poppies are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Please drop by my teamies and see their fabulous creations.

Before I go here the previous fortnight's card, just no time in the last two weeks to get to the blog. It looks like June will be the same, where did I ever find the time to go to work? A fabulous stencil from Red Dot Laser Designs and using Sue Wilson's double Pierced squares A and B. Sentiment from Spellbinders.
Its time for a new challenge at International Art and Soul here and our challenge for the next two weeks is Vintage.

For my card this week I had root around in my stash for some vintage looking paper that must be at least five years old. This background paper was a 12 x 12 sheet and I've used it before and had cut off the paper info.

The image came from a card set that I've had for years. (its definitely going to be vintage!) All the images are of children and I love the sepia tones of it. The ribbon roses came from the US ages ago from a lovely lady called Sharon Johnson and her store, The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I'm not sure if Sharon still has these colours but her store is a joy to wander around and her blog is brilliant. There's a little WOC flower from the bottom of my flowers box and the leaves are a Marianne die from ages ago too. Three little black pearls to finish off. The little tag is from a Tonic die that was a freebie at Christmas.

I find lots of information about magazine freebies coming up from Christina Griffiths and her brilliant blog called, Flowers, Ribbons and Pearls. Christina also has lots of videos on Youtube with some great ideas and will give you lots of inspiration on how to use the magazine dies and stamps.. Who doesn't love a freebie?

If you drop by, please let me know as I am happy to come and visit you.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-47760456512690283062017-04-16T15:29:00.003+01:002017-04-16T15:29:42.702+01:00May the Easter Bunny bring you lots of chocolate Eggs!Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.

Theres a new challenge over on the International Art and Soul blog here called Wings. Plenty of different wings to play with, birds, dragonflies, bees, ladybirds, fairies and angels to name just a few.
So, please come and join us and please let us know you've been, we would love to see your creations.

For my card I chose to highlight a butterfly from Memory Box called Vivienne, it's such a pretty and lacy die.

I chose to start with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics and then used Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments using all of the four dies to mat and layer. I've cut the butterfly die in matching card and vellum to give it some depth. I've used such a pretty and glossy blue card for the main mat but sadly with my camera it's not showing.

If you land on my blog please let me know as I am always happy to return the visit.Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-23308732099185616792017-04-02T12:00:00.000+01:002017-04-02T12:00:25.242+01:00Distressing, definitely! It's time for a new challenge at the International Art and Soul blog here. Our theme this fortnight is, Distressing.

Well for me it was distressing as I had in my minds eye exactly what I wanted to create. What ever I seemed to do went wrong, I threw away the two previous attempts.

Well, here it is in all its glory!

I couldn't even take a decent picture of it what with my green bin in the background too. Funny enough my husband loved it.

The background paper is from a Dovecrafdt pack and the Butterfly is by Sue Wilson. The lovely Butterfly sentiment is by our very own INTAAS co-ordinator Jane Bradshaw.

Jennie - The Crafty Wifehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11477417676232868565noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776013862223952966.post-3655787167658502452017-03-19T12:22:00.002+00:002017-03-19T12:22:29.480+00:00Time For a New Challenge! It's time for a new challenge at INAAS (International Art and Soul) and we'd love to see your creations with the challenge theme of Embossing.

For my card this week I've embossed the lovely sentiment on my card and embossed all the die cuts too. The sentiment bought at Ally Pally last year as my friends nickname is Bubbles and this was so perfect.

The background paper is from my stash and I cut the Spellbinders Intertwined Spirals in off white card and just added some TH Spun Sugar to soften the white die cut. I used one of the Presscut Circle dies in the background paper and then placed my centre embossed sentiment on. The flowers are mainly from Wild Orchid Crafts and I've added some Versamark Brilliance ink to give them some colour. The leaves were cut with a Memory Box die Lavish Branch.

I made this card for my Granddaughter who is now officially a teenager!

The dies are the Art Nouveau Layering Die Set from Tonic Studios and the lovely stamp is Uptown Girl Paisley by Stamping Bella. The stamp has been coloured with Promarkers. The flowers are by Wild Orchid and the leaves are from Essential Tags by Tattered Lace. The little tag is from a handy freebie set by Tonic called Multi-Tag Die Set.

Challenge 2 Recycling

Enter our challenge with a creation of all those lovely bits and pieces we save from bouquets, Christmas cards and gifts, buttons we save from clothes we buy or anything you find when out and about.

For my card this week I recycled a Christmas Card I received last Christmas

The lovely friend bought this card in aid of Help the Heroes and it was too nice to dispose of. I've used the Creative Expressions Noble Double Pierced Squares A & B. I embossed the card with one of the squares just to break the plainness of the white card. I've cut the Christmas card itself and the two silver mats with the A & B dies. This was a difficult colour on the Christmas card to match and I've kept it fairly simple with the other silver colours. The bow die is from Memory Box, a favourite of mine.

I will sell this card and donate the money to Help the Heroes at the next Christmas Fair.

My teamies and I are all old friends and we would love you to join us as we begin this creative journey together. We will have fortnightly themes for you to follow and create whatever pleases you as long as it fits in with our theme.

The very first challenge is 'Love is in the Air' and for my tag I had bucket loads of inspiration from Christina Griffiths and you can find her gorgeous blog below. I was lucky enough to win one of Christina's beautiful tags to inspire me. Christine has an amazing amount of videos on Youtube now and she shows you how to make something from start to finish, please check them out and her blog too. Flowers Ribbons and Pearls

My tag was cut using the Tattered Lace Tags die which is great as there are so many sizes to choose from. I've covered it with a scrap piece of Graphic 45 paper and added lots of glitter. I glued down a piece of lace and then added a mixture of flowers from Anna Marie Designs, Ribbon Girl and Wild Orchid Crafts. Behind the flowers sits a piece of cheesecloth and a Memory Box die called La Rue Flourish. The key I pick up in Paperchase in York, I think, the words are self generated.

What with being ill (all better now, thankfully) trying to get stock ready for a craft fair, Christmas and my husband being ill too, blogging has been put on the back burner. I apologise to my teamies and our fantastic and long suffering co-ordinater, Jane.

But I'm back, luckily Christmas is two weeks away and have just a couple of cards to go international with a wing and a prayer for a good postal service.

Our Theme this week on the One Stitch At a Time Challenge blog *277 is Anything Goes with Lots of Sparkle and will run for a month. Lets see those fab Christmas and New Year cards.

*** This will be the very last One Stitch At A Time challenge but my fab Teamies will be back in February with a shiny new challenge blog and some exciting new themes. I can't remember when I started with the blog but it has been some time and its been wonderful. Thank you to all those of you who have taken the time to leave me a comment or two.

For my card this week I chose Coosty Creations Holly Girl.

This is a real vintage image so I've kept her fairly plain to show her off. I've coloured her with a mix of Pro-Markers and some Copics too. The oval has been cut with a Spellbinders Grand Decorative Ovals and the gold card with Grand Scallop Ovals. I wish Spellbinders would bring back these large dies but perhaps Creative Expressions will bring out some new ones.

My card for Challenge *276

I bagged this card up and sold it at the Craft Fair and the lady was delighted as she thinks her husband would like her to dress like this on Christmas Day!

I chose to use Rose by Stitchy Bear Stamps and the paper pack by Panda Bear Designs called Going Round in Circles. Both of the designs are so handy to keep in your files as the image is lovely to colour and a;; the papers in the paperback all tone in with each other. Jusr a small knot of ribbon and a Memory Box Bow Corner to finish. I cut a circle from the left over paper and added two Spellbinders numbers from a set I've had for several years.

Please leave me a comment if you pop in, lots of people visit but I never know who you are. I know we have a scheduler but i just don't get that far!!!

<span style="background-color: #fcfcfc; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif; text-align: center;">When I created this card I had in mind a certain friend for her birthday. I've used another of the <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , "times" , serif;">Shoes, set of 4 by Ike and you can find them here. Such a fabulous set and I have changed the overall colour of the image to a dark brown to match my lace. The lace I bought from Ebay years ago and its perfect for the image. The cotton lace I was given to by a friend and the bronze apple blossom flower from WOC I've sprayed with Cosmic Shimmer Ancient Copper several times to get the right depth of colour. My favourite Memory Box Flourish and a couple of Memory Box tiny leaves to finish.I was really pleased with the finished card and I hope Gill liked it.

And our theme this week in Anything Goes For Men. We would really like to see those gorgeous creations for the man or men in your life.

You have a fabulous chance to win a $10 voucher to spend in the Digital Outlet Store, hop on over to the store right here and check out the fabulous digital creations and check back often as there is usually something new being designed.

For my card this week I chose to use Coosty Creations, A Grandfather Is. The gorgeous papers print brilliantly and the sentiment is wonderful. I've made my card into a shirt as this always reminded me of my grandfather who passed away when I was quite young.
