US card swap for February 2011

Its that time of the month when I make a Valentine inspired card for my US Red Hatters card swap.  I found a scrapbook kit on the Daisie Design website and used some of the elements for the card.  I cut the centre ovals out with a Nestie and finished off inside with the wording "Some Birdy Loves You". A quick and simple card.

A Birthday Card for a Friend

A quick and simple card for a good friend, a 6"x6" card, an image from Pink Petticoat and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

Precious Baby Girl

Little Megan, our great neice made a special arrival a few days ago and here's her card.  The image is from Pink Petticoat and decorated with a die cut from Marianne designs and the flowers are from one of Craftwork Cards Goody bags.  On the box lid the letters and the message have been cut on the Cricut from the Cindy Loo cartridge.  The lovely silk ribbon is from the US and is so lovely to use.

January 2011 US card swap.

My list of US card swappers has doubled this month to twenty so I thought a real quick card was in order.  I had some small cards over from Christmas that I bought at Craftwork Cards and printed a digi image from Two Peas in a Bucket. A cute and rather apt poem for me from the internet and job done.

Here's the poem
IN WINTER I'M ROUNDER.
In winter I'm rounder
and fatter than before.
I'm wearing coats and sweaters
and woolen hats galore.
My hands are as plump as kittens
when I'm wearing winter mittens.
My legs in thick, snug snow pants
look like an elephant's.
Indeed, I must confess
that when I do undress,
I feel as small and light
as a bird flown out of sight.

Happy New Year!

Well, what a month December was.  It seems an absolute age since I last made a post. Christmas was fab as my No.2 son and family flew over from Ontario and spent a week with us.  Congratulations to him for getting his VP from his company who make a well known hand held phone/gadget.  And I got the latest model for Christmas too.

I made about 40 odd cards leading up to Christmas and didn't have time to photo any of them, bad girl!  I think that will be a resolution for the year and also to take part in more challenges as well.

Artydoll over on the MSE forum set us a challenge of creating a Valentines card.  here's mine.

The script paper is from Pink Petticoat and the gold mirri has been cut with the Spellbinders scallop heart die.  I made some paper flowers from pages of an old paperback punched out with an SU scallop punch from the lovely Monica and had great fun squirting Glimmer Mist and Krylon gold webbing all over them.  I embossed the main heart die cut with a heart plate I've had for ages and never used, it turned out to be one that is embossed used with a light box but I was quite pleased with the effect.   I'm glad that daylight is staying a little longer every day, I loathe these dark winter months.
